About Fumi

As a highly respected Impressionistic painter from the Pacific Northwest, Wachtler’s detailed and delicate oil paintings reflect the tradition of the “Philadelphia Ten,” a group of painters educated in the early 1900s at Moore College of Art in Pennsylvania. With great respect for American Impressionism, Wachtler continues this painting tradition. “Early on, I made a conscious choice to portray, through my art, the beauty and hope that I find in nature. My goal is to provide a moment of respite from the chaos of our complex world. The earth’s landscape is full of beauty, and I want to share that vision.” In Fall 2018, Pamela Wachtler exhibited at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art in “Impressions of Place.” She was the featured artist in Bainbridge Currents Art Magazine (https://www.bainbridgecurrents.com/artist/pamela-wachtler). In collaboration with her son, she published “A Time of Light and Hazy Color,” featuring poetry by Alex Fermanis and illustrations by Wachtler.
