About Amy
Amy Ferron is a mixed media artist whose unique shapes create their own fantastic worlds. Amy’s decades of experience as a master quilter inform her painting style, translating the artful play of fabric into paint and collage, using paper to define space with light and dark. Her paintings and collages have been exhibited at the Whatcom Museum, Cascadia Art Museum, Washington State Convention Center, Seattle City Hall, Anacortes Art Festival, and numerous other local galleries and juried shows.
Amy paints her backgrounds and then applies handmade paper, hand-painted paper, purchased papers, and maps to create unique landscapes. Her favorite tools are scissors, rotary cutters, and X-acto knives. Influenced by the art of Henri Rousseau and Rex Ray, she creates distinctive garden scenes and landscapes. Her current pieces depict flower gardens that respond to the environment in which they are placed. The “flowers” grow in the dark of night as well as under brilliant light from above.
