Opening Reception

6-8pm Friday May 2nd, 2025

at

JG Art Gallery on Bainbridge Island.

This two-artist exhibition features the works of Brooke Borcherding and Ericka Wolf and offers a captivating exploration of contemporary landscapes and abstract interpretations of natural phenomena. Borcherding’s “Urban Deconstructions” series presents cityscapes transformed through her distinctive “broken color” technique, where she deconstructs and reassembles urban environments into vibrant, fragmented compositions. In contrast, Wolf’s modern color field paintings utilize encaustic and oil mediums to convey the transient beauty of skies and seascapes, emphasizing luminous color expressions over detailed illustration. Together, their artworks invite viewers to experience the interplay between structured urban forms and the ethereal qualities of nature.

This exhibition is a must-see for art collectors interested in contemporary interpretations of landscapes and abstract art. The dialogue between Borcherding’s fragmented cityscapes and Wolf’s luminous abstractions provides a unique opportunity to explore the boundaries between representation and abstraction.

Join us at JG Art Gallery + Events and enjoy extraordinary artwork, bubbles and good cheer. Meet the artists, enjoy the new collection, have a glass of wine, and reconnect with friends.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Show runs May 2nd-27th, 2025

Ericka Wolf Oil, 36×36 in Stay Golden Hour

Wolf, inspired by color field painters, aims to create expressions that are intentionally uncomplicated yet deeply reflective. Her pieces invite viewers to slow down and immerse themselves in the serene expanses of color, evoking the soft, blurry consciousness of waking up.

Brooke Borcherding Acrylic, 24×48 in Over The Hill

Borcherding’s approach involves painting from life, often en plein air, capturing the essence of her subjects before transforming them into larger studio pieces. Her works showcase her ability to depict the dynamic energy of urban settings through layered colors and abstracted forms.
