Opening Reception
6-8pm August 1st, 2025
JG Art Gallery on Bainbridge Island

JG Art Gallery proudly presents a compelling summer exhibition featuring three celebrated Pacific Northwest artists—
Britt Freda, Lisa McShane, and Robin Jones . Each artist brings a distinct yet harmoniously resonant voice to the show, united by a deep connection to the regional landscape, wildlife, and layered human experience. Their works—ranging from richly symbolic to delicately observational—invite viewers into moments of quiet reflection and urgent awareness.
Britt Freda’s paintings often feature birds and wildlife rendered with luminous detail, serving as poignant metaphors for resilience and fragility in the natural world. Lisa McShane brings a mastery of light and atmosphere to her evocative landscapes, capturing the emotional resonance of place with extraordinary clarity. Robin Jones balances realism and abstraction, creating layered compositions that speak to memory, loss, and transformation. Together, their work offers a powerful visual dialogue about our environment and our place within it.
Join us at JG Art Gallery + Events and enjoy extraordinary artwork, bubbles and good cheer. Meet the artists, enjoy the new collection, have a glass of wine, and reconnect with friends.

“I seek to evoke empathy, compassion, empowerment, to elevate those who may not typically find themselves subjects on gallery and museum walls”.
I choose to paint girls and women, as from the beginning – and continuing into the present time – they have been at the forefront of the environmental and animal rights movements. I choose to paint young people, as they will inherit the planet we leave them. They are also among the strongest and most influential voices in environmental activism today. I like to think of my paintings as ‘portraits of the future’ – the subjects of my paintings will be impacted in the future by the decisions and choices made now .

Experience plein air painting: A special demonstration with Brooke Borcherding
Join us to watch acclaimed Seattle painter Brooke Borcherding bring her signature vibrant canvases to life in a live demonstration. Brooke’s dynamic process—where traditional plein air meets modern abstraction—offers insight not only into technique but into how she captures movement, light, and the essence of place.
Brooke’s commentary about her process allows collectors to gain a deeper appreciation for the layers and thought behind each piece, and her welcoming personality invites aspiring artists to find fresh inspiration in her bold composition choices and intuitive color blocking. She encourages other painters to join her with their easels and paints. Whether you’re an admirer of Brooke’s artwork or a fellow artist, this intimate event promises to deepen your connection with the art – and the artist.

New by Andy McConnell

Andy McConnell’s woodworking is deeply rooted in his Pacific Northwest upbringing and his lifelong engagement with regional artists and the natural environment. His work often features abstract, non‑representational pieces – particularly carved cedar burls and wood-and-epoxy “portal” sculptures – that serve as metaphors for the inner human landscape, exploring identity, accident, balance, and difference.
