About Alfred
Art is both my obsession and passion. I work primarily in two styles: Plein Air, which sharpens my skills, and Impasto, allowing me to express texture and color from my imagination. Plein Air is influenced by my surroundings, while Impasto is more personal.
I studied at Columbus College of Art & Design and the American Academy of Art, earning a Fine Art degree. I taught figure painting in Chicago and Kansas and led Plein Air workshops in the U.S. and Europe. “Alfred Currier: Impasto,” authored by Ted Lindberg, was published by the University of Washington Press.
Now based in Anacortes, Washington, I paint vibrant landscapes in oil impasto, focusing on the Skagit Valley’s farming community and connecting with migrant workers. I’ve also painted in Greece, France, Italy, Holland, Argentina, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska.
