About Theresa
Theresa discovered art in a fashion studies class at Parsons School of Design. A moment of transcendence while drawing a live model redirected her life. She returned to Michigan, enrolled at Grand Valley State University, and financed her education by creating a paper earring line. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1994, she balanced waiting tables and managing an art gallery while showcasing her artwork in various galleries.
Living off the grid near Taos, New Mexico, with her husband Peter Halter, she relies on nature for sustenance and is committed to beauty and balance. For over 30 years, she has created a diverse range of works, often considered experimental, from floral pieces to found object assemblages. Theresa emphasizes the value of presence in her work, merging her surroundings with her creative process.
Art is integral to her life, transcending mere decision; it connects her joys and challenges with authenticity.
